Synopsis: EVERY SECOND DAY Kali D'Angelo is a normal sixteen year old girl. She goes to high school. She attends pep rallies (reluctantly). She's human.
AND EVERY OTHER DAY. SHE'S NOT.
Though she's not quite sure what she is on those days. Kali knows what she side-by-side she hunts, traps, and kills demons, hellhounds, and other supernatural creatures that threaten her world. On those days, she is practically I destructible.
But when Kali notices a mark on a popular girl at school, she knows instantly that the girl is marked for death by one of these unwordly beings. And she knows she has only twenty four hours to save her.
There's only one problem- it's the wrong twenty four hours.

My review: it must suck having the urge to kill all the time. I would hate it. But it would be for a good reason because it would mean I would save people from supernatural beings. For the day I was human I would try to enjoy it as much as I could since most other days I would be a killing machine. I don't see hoe Kali could handle it. It would drive me nuts. But that's why Kali is my hero. She is strong and knows what she has to do and accepts it.
If I would have read this book back in high school I would have used the code and probably passed my history class.
Learning from this book that chupacabras aren't just blood suckers that they are also memory eaters.
I love the scientific names used for supernatural beings. Like for hellhounds it's canis daemonum and for zombies it's homo mortis. Pan yeti gigantea is the abominable snowman, equus aqua mysticalis is a kelpie.
Since reading this book anytime I see an ouroboros I'm going to think that they have been bitten by a chupacabra.
Also if you want to get rid of a chupacabra just stay some place cold. Like Alaska. Yeah I hate the cold but if I had one of those things bite me I would move to Alaska to get rid of it. Or if I ever got bitten at all I would want to be what Kali is.
If I would have been at a skating rink and seen a gigantic Dragon come from the ice I would have ran out of there screaming my head off. Probably looking like a lunatic. My mom would never have believed me if I told her I saw a dragon at the ice rink. She would probably send me to the nut house. I wouldn't blame her for it tho.
How odd would it be to have something inside of you, that had something inside of it? If you answered not odd at all your wrong. That would be out of this world insane. I would freak out. I don't see how Kali can handle this. The thing inside of her named Zev, has a nibbler inside of him. That is like multiple personality shit.
Hearing Kali' s dad lecture about preternatural beings makes me wonder if scientists have actually studied these mythological beings. But haven't told any one what they have discovered.
homo vampirus that is what Zev is, he's a freaking vampire. Ho-ly sh-it. And Kali is one too, or part vampire. And supposedly Zev is her other have.
"I prefer the term Lonely Ones. They are to come in pairs."
I will say yet again ho-ly sh-it. The weird high heeled suit wearing lady named Rena Malik is Kali' s mother. I was shocked.
Her father knew all along about what Kali was. Well sorta. He knew about the test but thought it never worked. Kali had always been the way she was since her mother was pregnant with her.
Skylar is a weird crazy girl. Willing to help someone she had just met. When she died I wanted to quit reading this. I know she wasn't the main character but I still liked her. Skylar will surely be missed by me. :(
I couldn't believe what Zev did to Kali. She risked her life to save him and once she found him he strangled her. What an ass. But he wasn't in control Colette was.
Finding out that Kali had not but one mom but two. Colette and Rena. And also finding out the Colette was Zev' s true pair not Kali's was just mind blowing. This whole book is just exciting and mind blowing.
I was surprised that Rena helped Kali. I guess it because she's her daughter.
I hope there will be a second book. It couldn't have ended just like that.
This book is a must read. If you like danger read it. If you like mythical creatures read it.
