Synopsis: Sixteen year old Erin Misrahe just wants to be like everyone else in her new school. But Erin has more to worry about than passing AP Chemistry and making new friends. In tines of stress, she has always been overcome by her alter ego, Shevaun, whose violent behavior wrecks havoc on those around her. Erin can never remember anything about these episodes, and she's grateful to have been spared them for a while.
But when a protective old friend comes back into Erin's l if, he insists that Shevaun is a course who actually exists apart from Erin. Shevaun has dangerous allies, like the handsome witch Adjila- and they're determined to sever Shevaun's connection to Erin once and for all.


About the author: Amelia grew up in Concord Massachusetts. Born in 1984, she wrote her first novel, In the Forests of the Night, when she was thirteen. Other books in the Den of Shadows series are Demon in My View, Shattered Mirror, and Midnight Predator. She had also published the five volume series The Kiesha'ra: Hawksong, Snakecharm, Falcondance, Wolfcry and Wyvernhail.

Erin is going to a private school because she is crazy. She is finally going to a normal school and has a friend named Marissa. Who wants her to join the fencing team. Erin doesn't think she should but her therapist says she should. While at fencing class Erin had to stop and take a break. She saw her friend Marissa run off into the woods and Erin followed her to make sure she was okay. Right in front of Erin marissa turned into a tiger. Erin thought it was her mind playing tricks on her. Erin had woken up in a strange place where a guy had called her Shevaun. Erin had heard that name before and its why she was institutionalized and has to take medication.
Adjila knew that Erin was Erin and wanted her to stay out of Shevaun's body.
Erin had returned back to her body and was talking to Marissa. She found out that Marissa had lost her brother and a cousin. Marissa tried to apologize to Erin for shifting in front of her.
But Erin told Marissa that she has been prone to hallucinations. Erin finally told Marissa the truth about herself.
Shevaun woke up as herself and Adjila told her about Erin. So Shevaun and her family plan to go to America to find Erin and destroy her. Because she was a threat to Shevaun and her family.
Shevaun arrives in Boston and finds out where Erin lives. Shevaun goes inside and looks through Erin's photo album and starts having images of Erin' s life.
Erin is talking to her therapist about what happened. She also got an Email from an old friend named Sassy. He wants to see her.
During school Erin called Sassy and he showed up at her school to take her out to eat. Marissa seemed to notice Sassy. What is up with him? Why did Marissa go wide eyed when she seen him.
Sassy tells Erin about Marissa and about why he was really institutionalized. While they were talking Adjila showed up and kissed Erin in front of Sassy. Adjila kissed Erin to pur Shevaun in her body. Sassy is a shapeshifter. The reason Adjila did this so Shavaun could remember what happens when Erin is in her body and she in Erin' s.
Shevaun and Adjila wants to experiment on Erin about how they can switch bodies. Sassy doesn't want them to hurt Erin so he helps them out.
Erin wakes up as herself. Sassy tries to tell her the truth but she doesn't believe him. He is suppose to drive her home but instead take a her to the school where Marissa is.
Admiral believes that Erin is an experiment of a Triste witch and that he might be the reason why Erin and Shevaun switch places. Shevaun just wants to kill Erin but Adjila won't let her.
Adjila and Shevaun go visit Adjila' s creator and see if she knows anything. Pandora said she didn't. Shevaun thinks Pandora is behind it because Pandora never really liked Shevaun.
Marissa told Erin about her being a shape shifter and that Sassy was one too. Erin didn't believe them. She didn't want to. Marissa had called SingleEarth to learn more about Erin. Sassy doesn't want Erin involved with that group because of his history with it. While this is going on Shevaun was listening.
Erin' s father came and took her to the hospital. While she was there a psychologist from SingleEarth showed up to talk to Erin about helping her out.
Adjila showed up at the hospital to take Erin. He had run into the SingkeEarth doctor and got Erin' s file from him. Sassy was there watching Erin when Adjila showed up. Sassy went with him as he took Erin out if the hospital.
Marissa is the reason why the hunters went after Shevaun. Marissa knew that Erin wasn't crazy. That something else was wrong.
Pandora, Adjila's teacher, knew all about Erin and Shevaun. The reason they have the bond is because Shevaun was injured and had to feed to heal. She fed on Erin's mother while she was pregnant with her. Adjila healed Erin' s mother until an ambulance came. It why they had the bond.
Pandora helped Shevaun. Sassy helped Erin by turning her into a shapeshifter.
